What is Cap?

Cap is a credit platform built on the Ethereum blockchain that connects lenders, borrowers, and underwriters in a single marketplace. Lenders deposit dollar-denominated assets such as stablecoins to mint cUSD, which can be staked to earn yield, while a network of underwriters escrows their own collateral to back each loan. The project states that this collateral acts as a first-loss buffer, enforced by smart contracts, to protect lenders if a borrower defaults. CAP is the platform's governance and utility token, used to vote on protocol parameters such as eligible collateral, fees, and which institutions can borrow.
