Frankfurt, 14 January 2026 – Bitvavo, the leading European cryptocurrency trading platform, has become a new partner of the German Football Association (DFB). This makes Bitvavo the DFB’s first crypto partner, covering both the national teams and the DFB Cup. Through this unique collaboration, both partners aim to combine their strengths to further familiarize German consumers and football fans with the secure buying, selling, and custody of cryptocurrencies via a trusted and licensed European platform. The agreement runs through 2030.

Crypto market continues to grow and mature

Globally, an increasing number of digital asset providers and trading platforms are engaging in sports sponsorships, including football. In Germany alone, around 10 million people already invest in or trade cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, with a further 10 million showing strong interest in entering digital asset markets in the near future.

Dr. Holger Blask, Chairman of the DFB Management Board, explains: “We are very pleased to welcome Bitvavo as a new partner for the DFB. Bitvavo was founded in 2018 with the aim of making the trading and ownership of digital currencies accessible and affordable for everyone. Today, Bitvavo is the leading euro-based crypto exchange in Europe. Cryptocurrencies stand for digital transformation and have achieved enormous popularity in a short period of time. As a reliable and regulated partner, Bitvavo represents the highest standards of security and compliance. Together, we aim to further strengthen football’s innovative power.”

Innovating and investing in football

Marijn van de Ven, Chief Marketing Officer at Bitvavo, adds: “German football stands for quality, teamwork, and a results-driven mindset. This “winning mentality” and the DFB’s supportive role, both in facilitating the performance of the men’s and women’s national teams and in organizing the iconic DFB Cup, perfectly align with Bitvavo’s scale-up culture, innovative positioning, and brand. We also facilitate our customers’ success as a platform through powerful technology, an intuitive mobile app, a broad product offering, and very low trading fees. With this long-term partnership, we are investing both in our brand awareness as a European market leader and in the fan experience and innovative strength of German football.”

The new partnership covers not only the national teams and the DFB Cup, but also the men’s U21 national team, the women’s U23 national team, the Google Pixel Women’s Supercup, and the futsal national team.
